What can cause this problem?
Poor cleaning and standing water do not always point to the same fault. Loading, spray-arm obstructions, filters, water supply, a drain connection, or a pump can be involved. A small amount of water in the filter well may be normal for some models; water covering the tub floor after a completed cycle needs a closer look.
| What you notice | What could be involved |
|---|---|
| Water stays after the cycle | Filter, drain-hose, pump, or connection issue |
| Dishes are still dirty | Loading, spray-arm, water-supply, or circulation issue |
| Water leaks at the door | Loading, detergent, seal, or level issue |
These are possibilities, not a diagnosis. Your model and diagnostic checks determine the cause.
What can you check before calling?
Stay with controls and parts your owner’s manual identifies as user-accessible. Do not remove panels, move heavy appliances, or test electrical circuits.
Check for blocked spray arms
With the machine off, see whether a tall utensil or dish is preventing the arms from moving freely.
Check the accessible filter
Only remove and rinse a user-serviceable filter as described in the owner’s manual. Watch for sharp fragments.
Note recent plumbing changes
Mention a newly installed garbage disposal or drain connection. Do not disconnect plumbing or open the appliance cabinet.
When should you stop using it?
Stop the cycle if water escapes onto the floor. Avoid touching wet electrical connections. Do not use regular dish soap in a dishwasher or repeatedly restart a leaking machine.
What helps prepare for a diagnosis?
Tell us whether a cycle completes, where water appears, and if a disposal or sink drain was recently replaced. Photograph the error code if one appears.
When you call, ask about the next available visit, diagnostic charges, and who can authorize the work. The cause needs to be established through diagnosis; a symptom alone does not determine the cost or the part needed.
Use the instructions for your model.
This is a general TopPro guide, not a manufacturer-specific repair procedure. Use your appliance’s manual for settings, filters, and permitted checks. Instructions vary by model.
